Documents witnessed, certified or authenticated
You might need to give someone a witnessed, authenticated or Apostille certified document or a certified copy of a document.
Get a document witnessed
Some documents, such as affidavits, affirmations, deeds and declarations, need to be witnessed by an authorised person to confirm the document is true and accurate.
Alternatively, you might need a certified copy of a document to give a to third party (such as a court or governmental body). A certified copy is a photocopy that has been stamped or endorsed by a person who confirms that the copy is a true copy of the original.
You might be told who needs to witness or certify the document. You will probably need a:
• Justice of the Peace
• Solicitor of the High Court
• Notary Public (there may be a cost)
• Deputy Registrar at a court (not all courts will be able to certify copies)
CODR can provide an expert to witness or certify the document online quickly, for an easy one-off fixed fee.
Is it effective?
CODR has had its online process and platform independently reviewed by an expert barrister, who confirmed that documents witnessed and/or certified online using our services will meet the relevant requirements for contracts and commercial documents, oaths and declarations, and affidavits and other court documents. Not only that, documents signed using our processes are arguably more reliable than old fashioned pen and paper!
Documents relating to land
Some documents associated with land or mortgage transactions must be certified or witnessed by a lawyer.
This process is slightly more complicated. If you need this type of document certified (e.g. an Authority and Instruction form), contact us to learn more about how we can help. If we cannot assist, we will do our best to help you find a practical solution.
